Brighton is a seaside resort on the south coast of England which is part of the East Sussex, about 75 km south of London.
I ended up there by flying on an interview. Woke up a bit earlier in the morning and decided to see what is offered. 🙂
Apparently the city could be traced up to Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. However, the town’s importance grew in the Middle Ages as the Old Town developed.
n the Georgian era, Brighton developed as a fashionable seaside resort, encouraged by the patronage of the Prince Regent, later King George IV, who spent much time in the town and constructed the Royal Pavilion in the Regency era.
The Royal Pavilion, located in the heart of Brighton, is a must see attraction when visiting the city. Designed by John Nash some 200 years ago as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV, the Chinese inspired interior is even more stunning than the eccentric Indian domed exterior. Don’t know how this architecture style ended up in Brighton, but ok… 🙂
If you walk around the area, you would be greeted by these little things:
Many of the major attractions were built in the Victorian era, including the Metropole Hotel (now Hilton) Grand Hotel, the West Pier, and the Brighton Palace Pier.

Hi there! Britain had the world’s largest empire at this point in history and influences from the east, ostensibly India and China, were the height of fashion in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Traders brought back all manner of fabrics and furniture and inspiration for artists and designers to copy. The Prince of Wales, Prince Regent or George IV – all the same man but with a different title depending on the decade of the early 1800s, was a slave to fashion and spent like a King (long before he was one). You can see Mughal inspired buildings dotted all around the UK.
Loved your Brighton pictures by the way, much nicer than the ones I took when I visited. 🙂
